Description

The third in our Piet Oudolf Collection, this plant combination box not only complements our other collections but also provides the keen gardener with interest and colour throughout the year.

Stachys offiinalis ‘Bride’ (White)

This strong variety makes a great border plant. The brilliant spikes sway in the wind on a beautiful summer day! A welcome addition to your garden.

Astilbe chinensis ‘Spotlight’ PBR
This new and distinct cultivar is characterized by its upright and strong habit with dark foliage and salmon-pink flower plumes. The flower feathers slowly fade in autumn and winter providing ongoing interest – so don’t cut them too early! Attractive to important garden pollinators, this cultivar prefers a shady, damp spot in the garden.

Astrantia major ‘Florence’ PBR
A cousin of Astrantia major ‘Roma’ from our first collection, this cultivar is similar in habit but has slightly paler flowers that fade to white as they mature. It is highly regarded by both landscapers and floral designers due to its beautiful stems of starry flowers. Not an invasive plant, this, like all Astrantia’s, prefers a shady damp spot in the border.

Campanula glomerata ‘Emerald’ PBR
This wonderful Bell Flower is a beautiful and graceful plant with large impressive clusters of lilac-blue flowers held on reddish-brown stems of lush green foliage.

Echinacea ‘Fatal Attraction’ PBR
This exceptionally pretty and sturdy coneflower bears its vibrant cerise-pink flowers on beautiful russet stems. Echinacea ‘Fatal Attraction’ is a fragrant plant whose star-like flowers have an intense deep purple heart. It is an absolute favourite for honey bees, bumblebees and butterflies and will no doubt become a favourite of yours too once established in your garden.

Rudbeckia occidentalis ‘Black Beauty’ PBR
This Western coneflower has very unusual chocolate-black button-like flowers with a golden rim. It is an easy plant to grow but doesn’t like to lie cold and wet during the winter . The spent flowers are particularly ornamental and the black buttons are really very beautiful well into the winter. As with all coneflowers, this plant is very attractive to butterflies and bees.

Molina caerulea ‘Edith Dudszus’
This ornamental grass has graceful grey-green leaves and purple-black flower spikes that protrude high above the leaves. The leaves turn a wonderful straw yellow colour in autumn giving your garden interest and structure throughout the winter.

Salvia ‘Madeline’ PBR
This small and particularly fashionable sage has graceful fragrant leaves with beautiful two-tone flowers of blue and white. Salvia ‘Madeline’ can be called a real bee and butterfly plant and is one that most gardeners fall in love with. It has a long flowering period and is a real asset to any garden border but also grows well in containers.

Veronicastrum ‘Cupid’
This plant is a native wildflower of North America and is deserving of a sunny spot in any garden. Its bushy clumps of mid-green leaves provide a strong base for the long, slender flower spikes which hold lilac-blue candle-like clusters of blooms. It is well-used as a cut flower and due to its long summer flowering period is a real asset to the garden.
